Thanks so much for writing for me! This is my first time participating in Sutcliff Swap, and I'm very excited. I hope you have a lot of fun with your story; I'm sure I'll love whatever you come up with.

I was a bit pressed for time when filling out my sign-up, which is why I put nothing down for my optional details, but basically: I like happy (or at least hopeful) endings, friendship, loyalty, determination, cooking and/or eating, people being smart, people being competent, platonic bedsharing, non-platonic bedsharing, pining, unrequited love that turns out to be requited, hurt/comfort, kissing, masturbation, mutual masturbation, frottage, intercrural sex, intergluteal sex, oral sex, talking during sex (not dirty talk, just ordinary conversation), first-time fic, established relationship fic in which there's some sort of shift in the dynamics of the relationship, mild angst with an eventual happy ending, BDSM, watersports, worldbuilding, cultural differences, historical details, werewolves, backstory, missing scenes, future fic, third person POV, and past tense.

The things I don't like are breathplay/asphyxiation, vore/cannibalism, scat, emetophilia/vomit, heavy angst, parent-child incest, dialogue-only fic, no dialogue, epithets (e.g. the blond, the taller man, the younger man), the phrases "to his [or her] credit," "had the grace to," and "took him[self] in hand," PWPs, second person POV, and AUs. Supernatural elements are absolutely fine, as long as they don't contradict canon. I'd prefer if you could avoid non-canonical character deaths; I feel that Sutcliff's put my heart through the wringer quite enough, and I don't need to compound that feeling. :-) Also, please no Eagle of the Ninth references. (I imprinted pretty hard on the film, and I'd rather not be tossed out of the fic by details from book-only canon.)

* Optional details are optional. I've offered some possible hooks for a story in each of my requests because that's how I like to write for exchanges, but if your creativity is sparked in other ways, or if you just don't like any of my suggestions, then feel free to ignore them and write a different story for those characters.

* Yuletide tends to be a high-pressure exchange for a lot of people, and while I'm not trying to invalidate your feelings if you're one of them, I do want to encourage you to not worry too much. Three of my fandoms are tiny even by Yuletide standards, and the fourth fandom has a heavy preponderance of self-insert fic. (Not that there's anything wrong with that! It's just not what I'm looking for in fanfic.) So there's very little you could write that I wouldn't be delighted by, just for the fact of its existence.

* I'm chattier about some of my requests than others this year. Please don't think that this indicates a preference on my part for one fandom over another. I promise, I'd be equally thrilled to receive a story in any of these fandoms.

If you're looking for suggestions on what sorts of stories I like, the first place to look is my general kinks and squicks post. A couple of my preferred tropes are more suited to longer fic than what gets produced for Purim Gifts, so just ignore anything that would necessitate a really plotty story. I tend to prefer slash, het, and femslash to gen, but don't let that worry you if you're a gen writer; I do enjoy gen (especially gen involving queer characters), and I'm more than happy to meet you halfway rather than demand that you write something you'll hate.

Additional notes:
1) Regarding third person present tense, I'm Switzerland. I don't actively like it as I do third person past tense, but if your fic demands present tense for some reason or if you're simply more confident in your ability to write a great present tense fic, then go for it.

2) I tend to recycle prompts a lot, sometimes even after I've received a fic that fills that prompt. This isn't out of inertia or because there was anything wrong with my previous gift, but because there are some character and prompt combinations I love so much that I'm interested in multiple takes on them.

3) Not all of my DNWs are things that I universally dislike. Some of them are just things that I'm very particular about, and it's easier to blanket DNW them than to attempt to detail my idiosyncratic preferences. So if I've commented on or kudosed a fic by you that involves one or more of my listed DNWs, please don't worry! I really did enjoy it!

Also, I requested slash for all four of my requests this year, but if you're a gen or het writer or if you simply aren't seeing it for those pairings, then that's okay. I'm interested in these couples because of the complex relationships between the characters in canon, not just the possibility of them becoming romantically involved, so it's perfectly fine by me if you write those relationships as platonic. (Well, except for Nisus and Euryalus, whom I do see as having a canonical romance, but in their case I'm happy to receive a story that focuses more on their friendship or soldierly bond than on their sex life.) The only thing I ask is that you not pair my requested characters with anyone else (with a couple of exceptions that I'll discuss below).

* Despite the fact that I was a lot more loquacious in my first two requests, I really would be equally thrilled by a story in any of these fandoms, on the off-chance that you were worried that I might love my Wang Qiu Wang Zi or Aeneid requests less than the other two. My inability to brainstorm more than a couple of possible scenarios for those fandoms doesn't mean that I won't be charmed and amazed by whatever story you might come up with for one of them.

* Yuletide tends to be a high-pressure exchange for a lot of people, and while I'm not trying to invalidate your feelings if you're one of them, I do want to encourage you to not worry too much. All four of my fandoms this year are quite rare even by Yuletide standards (I don't think any of them has more than 20 stories at most in the fandom), so there's pretty much nothing you could write that I wouldn't coo over for the very fact of its existence.

As you've no doubt read half a dozen times by now, you shouldn't feel absolutely compelled to write any details beyond the chosen fandom and characters. All of which is to say, if I requested something that you don't feel able to write, DON'T PANIC. Pretty much anything featuring the characters I requested would make me ecstatic, and I think it's more important for you to write a story that you're happy with and feel proud of than it is for you to write a story that exactly matches my request.

Generally speaking, things that I don't like to read include breathplay/asphyxiation, character-bashing, misogyny, death, abuse, betrayal, bad grammar and spelling, PWPs, non-con, coercion, and violence.

Things that I like include happy (or at least hopeful) endings, friendship, family (either biological or chosen), cooking and/or eating (but no foodsmut, please), physical affection (not just between the romantically involved characters), sharing beds, kissing, first-time fic, established relationship fic (especially if there's some sort of shift in the dynamics of the relationship), uncertain and/or awkward first relationship fumbling, character-driven gen, and mild angst with an eventual happy ending.
