Acronyms, television, fic, and shoes

Breaking another long bout of radio silence, this time with a poll. I've also got some fic waiting in the wings (apparently the last time I posted fic on my journal was in July); I'm just trying to decide whether I'm going to post the stories physically to DW/LJ or point to them on the AO3 or possibly both. If you have a preference for one of those options, be sure to fill out the next-to-last question on the poll. And if your preference is to not be inundated--albeit slowly, over the course of many days--by my fic posts, then please feel free to lie on that question if that would tip the scales in your favor.

Am posting anonymously because I'm too ashamed to say under my real name that I bought MBTs and paid $350 for them. Don't buy them. You can't walk in them for more than 20 minutes or so, you can't run in them, you can't carry anything heavier than, say, a paperback while wearing them because you just don't have the support to. I could barely even carry my bag with me, since it threw off my balance.

In contrast, the Vivo shoes look pretty reasonable: not such an extreme curve to the sole, not such an extreme price. But even so, if you're thinking of buying them, try them out, then try them out walking at your normal (not shoe store!) speeds, carrying whatever you generally carry, and think about when and where you'd wear them.

Thanks for the cautionary tale and for the advice! I became interested in the Vivo shoes as a result of this article (whose author, incidentally, also disliked the pair of MBTs he tried). His description of the Vivo shoes sounds perfectly suited to my lifestyle in the summer months, but since they're 2x or 3x as expensive as most of the shoes I buy, I thought I'd solicit other people's opinions before running out and buying them. I'll definitely give them a decent tryout before making the purchase, though. :-)
