Breaking another long bout of radio silence, this time with a poll. I've also got some fic waiting in the wings (apparently the last time I posted fic on my journal was in July); I'm just trying to decide whether I'm going to post the stories physically to DW/LJ or point to them on the AO3 or possibly both. If you have a preference for one of those options, be sure to fill out the next-to-last question on the poll. And if your preference is to not be inundated--albeit slowly, over the course of many days--by my fic posts, then please feel free to lie on that question if that would tip the scales in your favor.

SOUTHLAND !!!!!!

is completely and totally made of awesome (you may have heard that from me before); an absolutely freaking amazing (canonically gay) cop training a rookie (Ben MacKenzie and his arms) on the streets of LA. Lydia is a terrifically wonderful detective (*loves Lydia) who's to an outstanding way with a shotgun, and there are a bunch of other cops/detectives who wander in & out, but those three right there - plenty of reason to tune in.

plus, there's a great gritty 'real' feeling to the whole show, and since it's slice-of-life, sometimes we never know what happens next to victims/perpetrators. I'm seriously in love with the cast & show, and think everyone needs to check it out and fall hard

♥ them all

Am posting anonymously because I'm too ashamed to say under my real name that I bought MBTs and paid $350 for them. Don't buy them. You can't walk in them for more than 20 minutes or so, you can't run in them, you can't carry anything heavier than, say, a paperback while wearing them because you just don't have the support to. I could barely even carry my bag with me, since it threw off my balance.

In contrast, the Vivo shoes look pretty reasonable: not such an extreme curve to the sole, not such an extreme price. But even so, if you're thinking of buying them, try them out, then try them out walking at your normal (not shoe store!) speeds, carrying whatever you generally carry, and think about when and where you'd wear them.
