Addendum to this survey, because the lack of BSB representation on my list was weighing on my conscience.

2. Four Nights in Amsterdam by Chris J

Surveyish, just for fun.

Top five underrated popslash authors
1. Bartleby
2. Gwen
3. Hetre Z.
4. Kris Dow
5. Mary Borsellino

Five authors whom everyone absolutely has to read--and already does (aka, the more pointless part of this exercise)
1. Amber
2. Betty Plotnick
3. Calico
4. Jae
5. Lesa Soja

Best five LiveJournals
1. [livejournal.com profile] apetslife
2. [livejournal.com profile] eponymous
3. [livejournal.com profile] libertyginger
4. [livejournal.com profile] popfantastic
5. [livejournal.com profile] thebitchtrolls
Incidentally, all of these authors might easily have fit into one of the above categories. But I don't double up in surveys, because I'm obsessive like that.

1. Five Years by Dale
2. Bitter and Smiling by Julad
3. A Familiar Feeling by Matthew Haldeman-Time
4. Refraction by Silvia Kundera
5. Tomboy by Wax Jism

Five best popslash stories
1. Cigarettes and Alcohol by Cappuccino (only nominally related, but I simply couldn't choose between them)
2. Break by Jane St. Clair
3. You Can Read In Whatever You're Needing To by Kel
4. By a Thread by Lizzie Mills
5. In the Faces of Men and Women I See God by Rachel

Amongst all this pimping of TrickC stories, it occurred to me that, despite the fact that it's my favorite of the 'N Sync pairings, I've never completed a Chris/JC story.

In fact, I've never written a single story slashing any of my favorite pairings. Some of the pairings I've written have become my favorites since the time that I wrote the stories (Howie/Brian; Howie/JC), and others had been my favorites previously but fell out of favor before I wrote the stories, but I've never sat down and completed a slash story about my favorite pairing*.

Which, considering the dearth of stories for some of those pairings, is not a very good tactical move on my part. So far as I know there's a grand total of eight Howie/JC stories** out there--one of them mine--and nearly as few Howie/Brian***. The situation's even worse in a couple of media fandoms that I follow: I've only been able to find one Spike/Oz story, and no Remus/Draco at all.

*Starting a slash story about my favorite pairing is a whole 'nother thing; I have a number of stories in progress for pairings that were my favorites at the time that I began them--including a Chris/JC and a couple of Howie/Brians and Howie/JCs--but God knows if I'll ever finish any of them.

There is a small and fascinating collection of stories in which one of the members of 'N Sync or the BSB has a double. Not necessarily Timeshifting! stories, though those are a significant sub-genre. Schizophrenic hallucinations, identical twins, alternate universe counterparts...they're all here:

Cain by CJ Marlowe and Jawamonkey (Chris)
II by Amber (JC)
Left Behind by Amber (Justin)
Doppelgänger by CJ Marlowe and Jawamonkey (Justin)
In Limbo by Rinne (Justin)
One by Zarah (Justin)
Slash and Burn by Bartleby (AJ)

It's come to my attention that some of my friends don't really...understand the whole obsession with sparkly danceboys and certain of their female coevals. In response, I bring you the Boyband-Buffy Outreach Project. Inducting angsty pagan lesbian neo-Goths into popslash since 2002.

There's even, according to Granitite, a canonical precedent: In "I Was Made To Love You" Giles says, "Um, well, we listened to aggressively cheerful music sung by people chosen for their ability to dance."

So, without further ado...the boyband/Buffy crossover links!

Singing with the Radio by Lucy Hale. Oz and 'N Sync: working the "musicians" angle.

Once Bitten by Gwen. JC's much prettier than Buffy, anyway.

Revenge by Granitite. Probably won't make sense to the Buffy half of the project community, but...Spike and Jamie Foxx and a meeting that many will agree ought to take place.

And, because the series is phenomenal and contains some Buffy references, Many-roomed Houses of Wood by Sandy.
