"Seriously, what's wrong with you?" Waya demanded.

Isumi frowned at him. "I'm sorry, what?"

Waya rolled his eyes and huffed a little, then tugged at Isumi's sleeve. "The point of sharing an umbrella is that neither person is supposed to get wet. Why are you standing half in the rain? There's plenty of room if you'd just move a little closer to me."

"I didn't want to crowd you," Isumi said, but he allowed Waya to pull him completely underneath the umbrella's dome. It was warm and damp in the tiny, semi-enclosed space, and the rain pattered pleasingly onto the surface of the umbrella.

"Whatever," Waya said. "Isn't this a lot better?"

Isumi looked down at him, pressed warm and tight to his side, and smiled. "Yes, it is."

Thanks for the lovely comment! I think that Isumi's the sort of person who would try very hard to not take advantage of his younger and presumably (in Isumi's mind, at least) more naive friend. And meanwhile, of course, Waya's there with him just longing to be taken advantage of. :-)

I love this dynamic between them -- Isumi all worried and self-conscious and Waya there to tell him to stop being so damn nervous because he's awesome. (Like this picture (http://pics.livejournal.com/toko/pic/0000xs0f/g3).) whitedestiny1x2 is right -- it's amazing how richly you render their personalities in so few words.

This was one of the drabbles that a bunch of us wrote for your birthday last month, and I'm only now getting it up on my lj. So, yes, you did thank us all at the time. :-)

That's an awesome picture of Isumi and Waya; I have such a lovely warm feeling inside after looking at it. I do love how Waya is so ambitious and a little self-centered, but when it comes to Isumi, he manages to be considerate and supportive. Too adorable.
