Because, on a rare day off when I ought to be editing my Charlie/George drabble that's due today for Week of Weasleycest, or working on the long overdue ficlets promised to [livejournal.com profile] kenovay and [livejournal.com profile] xoverau, of course I'm going to choose to answer [livejournal.com profile] scribbulus_ink's interview questions instead.

Rules for this meme:

1 - Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - You'll include this explanation.
5 - You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

1) What is your favourite novel of all time? The Counterfeiters. No, wait, Middlemarch. Regeneration? Or maybe In the Absence of Men. Argh. I might be able to narrow it down to the top fifteen or twenty, but naming my one favorite novel's pretty much impossible.
2) Do you have a fandom OTP? If so, who is it and why? Yes, in the sense of a preferred pairing rather than the only one I'll read. Sirius/Remus. Because their relationship is sweet and funny and heartbreaking and passionate and violent and despairing; because they're best friends and no one understands them as well as the other, and because they distrust each other and keep painful secrets with devastating consequences; because the moments in which they can snatch happiness together are so fleeting and so exquisitely beautiful.
3) Do you prefer plot, smut, or a combination of both in fanfiction? A combination's best, but I'm easy when it comes to what constitutes plot. As long as there's a bit of character development or relationship development or something besides plain, unadulterated porn, I'm happy.
4) What's your opinion of the PoA casting? I may be the least qualified person in the world to answer this. I rarely watch movies, and I know next to nothing about actors. Case in point: I know that Gary Oldman's playing Sirius and David Thewlis's playing Remus, but I'd never heard of either of them before reading about them on my friends list. The most I can say about them is that Oldman looks reasonably like the version of Sirius in my head, and Thewlis looks nothing like I'd pictured Remus. Of course, this has been true for a number of other characters--most especially Maggie Smith as McGonagall--so I'm not letting it bother me too much. If he does the role well, I'll enjoy the movie anyway, and when reading (the books or fanfiction) and writing, I'll keep my original image of him in my mind. Just as when reading about McGonagall, I continue seeing her with black hair, despite Dame Maggie Smith's silver tresses.
5) What is one of your guilty pleasures? Eating Arrowhead Mills Crunchy Valencia Peanut Butter straight out of the jar.

And now I go write.
