It's been an eventful week. I'm finally moved out of my parent's house and into my girlfriend's apartment. It only occurred to me after I'd actually moved that this might not have been the best time to relocate, considering that I have to buy holiday presents and a bus ticket this month. Adding rent on top of that is not making me comfortable. On the plus side, though: I'm really living in Philadelphia now, rather than one of its lesser-known and more insular suburban towns. I've never been a city-dweller before--with the exception of a one month stay in Budapest, where my grandmother barely let me out the door alone.

As one example of the manifold delights to be found here, Ellen Kushner and Delia Sherman are going to be at Giovanni's Room this Saturday to promote The Fall of Kings! (7:30 pm-9 pm, if anyone else in the area is interested.)

The gf and I went to see Shakira last Sunday, and she was unimaginably hot and very, very good. Contrary to the usual order of things, her voice was better in concert than on recordings. And her belly dancing was phenomenal. She performs barefoot! As was quite obvious when she played footsie with her microphone while lying across the stage. (It looked a lot better than it sounds.)

Finally, my little sister dragged me to Harry Potter on Tuesday. It was surprisingly good. CoS is my least favorite book in the series so far, but I quite liked the movie. The Draco/Harry interaction continues to please--though they left out the scene in the dark magic shop, the bastards; my sister says they're going to add it to the DVD. Also, I betrayed myself by finding Lucius Malfoy gorgeous. I hate him, truly, but he's just so pretty in the movie.

Hrm. I might go to Giovanni's Room if:

A) I can get someone to go with me, I hate going into the city alone
B) I might run into you there.

I'd like that. I miss you. Don't know if I can make it this Saturday, though.

We need to discuss a few things.

I'm sure you don't know who I am, as I believe I added you to my friendslist on a whim; however, congratulations on moving into Philadelphia. I live in one of the satellite suburbs, myself, but I travel into Philly quite often, and it is quite the rockin' town. Make friends with the GR staff, they'll tell you other cool places to go, as well.

Re:

Talking to new people reduces me to quivering terror, myself, and the GR staff is the kind of cool-looking person I typically just admire from a distance, but my friend David forced me to go chat with a few of them once, and they proved quite dorky and normal. Whodathunk.

Anyway, enough babbling. Enjoy!
