Do people actually salivate when they're aroused, or is that just a metaphor? And if they do, is there some sort of biological/evolutionary reason behind it?

My guess is it's a metaphor, unless you're thinking of something oral that you find tasty.

Okay, cool. I'd just read a story with a lot of "*drools*" comments, and it made me wonder how literal some of those comments might be.
