AJ Slash Recs, Day 24

Last to Know by Nico. Part of Pop Opera but it works as a standalone.

They'd pulled one of the routines Alex termed "social experiments" at about five places around town. Joey pretended to be an undercover cop busting Alex for drugs, then beating him while he was handcuffed. Their first two efforts got more laughs than looks, since they were still working on their choreography and most of Joey's muffed punches missed by a good foot, but by the last run someone called the real police and someone else took a swing at Joey, and they declared it a success. Rodney King--and Reginald Denney--had apparently done at least a little for public intolerance of street brutality.

Man. I don't expect people to be reading Pop Opera. I should do some work on the site and clear up who did what. :)

considering it's nearly all IRC logs, all you'd have to do is post a "cast list" (although for joey and lance in the early logs that in itself could get messy...)

Well, there's also the bits of prose written by different people.

But mostly I'm just been slacking off because I hate HTML and doing the scenes is so much more fun than looking at the page. :)

Thanks for the correction. I love "Pop Opera," even in its incomplete state; I think I'm on my third rereading of the series. And I've long been curious as to who else was writing it, so if you could clear that up on the site, that would be fantastic.

We're working on it. LC did a bunch of work last night tidying up some stuff we had, so when I see her again I'll get those from her and do an update. :)

The story was on Kris's site, but I wrote it. :) I'm Nico, and I write JC, Eminem, and Joey in the Pop Opera Verse.

Thanks for reccing...though it scares me that people are actually reading this thing like a story. Scares me very, very much.

Sorry about the mistake. JC's one of my favorite characters in the series; you're doing a marvelous job on him. As for people reading "Pop Opera" as a story: it's a bit unpolished, but the characterizations are great and the plot's intriguing. I also really love what seems to be one of the basic premises in the stories, that sex can't fix everything, but people keep wanting it to, anyway. It's an interesting reversal of so many other slash stories, in which sex is the resolution rather than part of the problem.
