I may have found one of my Yuletide fandoms for next year, thanks to this fascinating post on Leyendecker and the Arrow Collar Man, examining the artwork of J.C. Leyendecker, magazine cover and advertisement illustrator in the 1900-1930s. I particularly like the illustration of the soldiers and nurse on board the U.S.S. Leviathan and the one with the man and woman supporting a book. Early 20th century homoeroticism for the win!

I've always been a fan of his work - part just the *look* and a lot to do with the barely hidden homoeroticism. plus, romance is awesome and I love the fact that his model was his lover for decades

dude I'd completely read the hell out of either/both - the art might provide more scope for various costumes/settings, though there's always roleplaying between artist and muse *g*

What an amazing blog post, and AMAZING art. Wow. I would read the heck out of that at Yuletide!
