See, that would have been the clever thing to do. Instead I wibbled while the spider settled down at the top of the windowframe for a bit of a rest, and then, when I finally decided that I had to do something about it, I found that it had disappeared. As did a third terrifyingly large spider that started spinning a web directly over my bed. (I tried to capture that one, but I couldn't reach it.)

I ended up pulling my bed out into the middle of the room and sleeping with the light on last night.
