So, New Year's resolutions don't really work for me. (I know, saying that is rather like confessing that one enjoys chocolate, but even knowing that my plight is shared with 99% of the people in those countries which actually have such a thing as New Year's resolutions has ceased to comfort me.)

As a result, I'm starting my New Year's resolutions a month early, so that by the time January 1st rolls around (the theory goes), they will have acquired the easy familiarity of an old habit.

Most of my resolutions have to do with boring things like getting more regular exercise and sleeping better and cutting back on sugar, and I won't inflict the details on anyone else. However, I've also resolved to write two feedback emails a day, if at all possible.

And I've set up a livejournal account, [livejournal.com profile] aboverubies, as a space in which to rec the stories I'm feedbacking. I'm doing this for two reasons: 1) I like doing recs, and 2) to keep me honest. Nothing reminds one of one's obligations quite like a journal that hasn't been posted in for several weeks (or months). Though I'm hoping that my clever pre-New Year's maneuvers will allow me to avoid that particular indignity.
